BIOGRAPHY
Doug Bautista, born on July 14, 1972, grew up in Hawaii, where music was an integral part of his life due to his mother’s consistent musical influence. He immersed himself in the local music scene, gradually transitioning from grunge bands to discovering Rasta Fari and its teachings, which ultimately found their way into his music.
After high school, Bautista moved to Los Angeles with dreams of making it big in the music industry. There, he met many creative individuals and collaborated with his friend Stephen “Sayan” Moore to record his debut album, “Good Lord Thank You.” in a garage on a 8-track recorder. The album received widespread acclaim, featuring popular tracks like “Damn Vampire,” “Unity,” and the heartfelt “Pakalolo Sweet.”
In 1999, Bautista returned to Hawaii to start a family and has lived there ever since. His music career experienced a significant surge in popularity. He embarked on extensive tours across the West and East Coasts, backed by renowned Jamaican artists such as SOUL SYNDICATE Band and the esteemed Dub specialist SCIENTIST. He also opened for the Wu-Tang Clan in New York City and gained widespread recognition in Japan through his current band, which he considers his closest companions: Ken Lykes on keyboards, Reid Taira on drums, and Kealaula Cockett on bass.
Despite his involvement in various other projects, Bautista continues to compose and perform music.
